BANDITSThese are people who come to a race without registering and partake in another person’s efforts without regard for what it takes to put on a race. For the life of me I cannot fathom how a person deliberately wakes up and thinks “I am going to cheat at running/walking today.” Folks, it is the same as walking into a store and taking something in many ways. There is a ton of time/effort that goes into a race, and many races pay to have timers. So, when you cross the finish line you are costing me time to figure out scoring errors. At a race I timed in 2013 the WINNER was actually a bandit! I could not believe it, but it got worse when the next bandit was the kids father. Nice lesson dad, teach your son to be a cheat. The event was a fundraiser so you also failed to teach your son how to be a contributing citizen. Shame on you! Most people who come to race expect accurate results and bandits make it hard to provide those, so next time you see someone at a race without a bib or shoe tag on (in chip timed races) alert a race official or be brave and say something about the fact you paid for the experience and it is only right everyone else did, as well.
